Every piece of furniture is individually designed, handcrafted and signed by Koletic. Dependent on world market availability, he uses a variety of salvaged burl including walnut, yellow cedar, redwood, rosewood, box elder as well as exotic rosewoods and ebony. Tung oil enhances and preserves the wood’s natural colour and beauty, and a topcoat of lacquer, wax or oil is buffed to a warm luster.

Machin Chouette was founded in 1995 by graphic designer Lyse Maheu. She intuitively utilizes pencils, paintbrushes, sewing machines and even a wood cutter's bench. Above all, she likes to assign new purposes to our predecessor's objects. For Lyse, a trolley may turn into a coffee table, a tap will become a lamp, and a hen cage can transform into a cupboard. She strives to meet her goal, that is, to make intelligent, original, functional objects and furniture of impeccable quality.
