Mixed
media pendants, the “TALISMANS” are inspired by native Canadian
symbols and stories…the dream catcher, the totem pole, the mask…as
well as by my fascination with African masks. I use concrete cement
as a base and incorporate the wire beads and discs that I make myself
with antique watch parts, found objects, vintage jewellery components,
rusted keys and spoons, stuff you might find at the bottom of an old
drawer, beer bottle caps, metal beads and jewellery findings, unusual
small objects like toy soldiers and key locks, plumbing fittings and
bolts from the hardware store, a toy airplane or an old compass found
at Toronto’s local antique market.. one of a kind, signed and
numbered (9cm x 9cm) |
